UberEats is bigger than Uber in several markets

"UberEats stands out even from the rest of the company’s fast-growing — and unprofitable — business. The delivery service, available in more than 120 markets globally, sometimes eclipses Uber’s main ride-hailing business in markets like Tokyo; Taipei, Taiwan; and Seoul, South Korea, the company said. The number of trips taken by UberEats drivers grew by more than 24 times between March 2016 and March 2017. As of July, UberEats was profitable in 27 of the 108 cities where it operated. Uber declined to reveal the service’s revenue."

18% of internet users are responsible for over 80% of video shares

"While almost one in five (17.9%) internet users are sharing video content with their social networks these ‘super sharers’ are responsible for the majority (82.4%) of all video shares.
In the Geography of Sharing report from marketing technology company Unruly, the networks used were analysed and it found that more than three quarters of video views take place outside of YouTube.
In terms of where video is being shared, it is a fragmented picture. While Facebook sees the most videos shared (59.4%) worldwide, viewers share across a multitude of platforms including Twitter (13.8%), Google+ (9.3%), Tumblr (5.7%) and Pinterest (3.9%).
Among its other findings were that South Koreans are the fastest sharers, with 20% of shares occurring within the first 24 hours of launch and its citizens are also more likely to click, replay or share an ad than any other territories worldwide.
However viewers in Germany are more likely to watch an ad to the end; 79% of Germans who watched an ad stayed till the final frame. The UK was in second place with 77%."

There are more than 100 million subscriptions to IPTV

"Global IPTV subscriptions have topped the 100 million mark for the first time, according to Point Topic. The market grew by 4.8 per cent in the first quarter of 2014, which matched the growth rate  achieved in the last quarter of 2013. There were 4.6 million new subscriptions during the Q1 2014 period, taking the total number of subscriptions to 100.9 million.
Eastern Europe reported the highest level of IPTV growth in Q1 2014 with net additions of 0.63 million resulting in growth of 11.6 per cent. East Asia, predictably given the size of the market, leads the way for net additions with 2.58 million new subscriptions being added in the quarter, an increase of 5.7 per cent on the Q4 2013 number.
The top ten IPTV countries for Q1 2014 remains broadly static although the gap between the UK and the Netherlands is slightly larger than previously, with those two countries having swapped places a couple of times in recent times.
1. China – 32.7 million
2. France – 14.8 million
3. USA – 12.3 million
4. South Korea – 9.1 million
5. Japan – 4.5 million
6. Russian Federation – 3.6 million
7. Germany – 2.7 million
8. UK – 1.9 million
9. Netherlands – 1.8 million
10. Vietnam 1.6 million"

66% of Facebook mobile users in India access via a feature phone

"When you think of how people access the Internet, you might glance at your smartphone or computer and imagine everyone around the world using similar devices. However, roughly 7 out of every 10 people in the world, many in high-growth countries like India, Brazil, Indonesia, Mexico, South Africa and Nigeria, use far simpler devices, like feature phones, to access the Internet.1
The rate of people using only mobile devices to access the Internet is skyrocketing, especially in high-growth countries. More than one billion people access Facebook on mobile every month and many do so across multiple mobile devices. In many countries, a majority of those people experience Facebook on a feature phone: in India 66%, in Indonesia 71% and in South Africa 68%."

62% of consumers across 12 markets use social media while watching TV

"The results of Ericsson ConsumerLab's annual study - presented in the TV & Video Consumer Trend Report 2012 - reveal that social TV is becoming a mass-market phenomenon.
Sixty-two percent of consumers use social media while watching TV on a weekly basis, an increase of 18 percentage points in one year. By gender, 66 percent of women engage in this behavior, compared to 58 percent of men. Twenty-five percent of consumers use social media to discuss what they are watching while they are watching it.
Niklas Rönnblom, Ericsson ConsumerLab Senior Advisor, says: "Mobile devices are an important part of the TV experience, as 67 percent of consumers use smartphones, tablets, or laptops for TV and video viewing. Furthermore, sixty percent of consumers say they use on-demand services on a weekly basis. Watching TV on the move is growing in popularity, and 50 percent of the time spent watching TV and video on the smartphone, is done outside the home, where mobile broadband connections are facilitating the increase."
Although viewing behaviors and demands are changing, only 7 percent of consumers say they will reduce their TV subscriptions in the future. In fact, instead of looking to cut costs, consumers are willing to pay more for an enhanced viewing experience: 41 percent of consumers say they are willing to pay for TV and video content in HD.
More than half of consumers want to be able to choose their own TV and video content. Rönnblom says: "As the number of screens and services increase, people are eagerly looking for an easy-to-use, aggregated service that can bring everything together. It should allow consumers to mix on-demand and linear TV including live content, facilitate content discovery, leverage the value of social TV and provide seamless access across devices.""

Announcing the sales on its Samsung Tomorrow page (Google Translate English version), Samsung said that the phone has captured the top market share among more than 10 countries in Europe.

Nearly 30% of smartphone users start their day with the mobile internet, and 45% end their day with it

"Nearly a third (30%) of smartphone users start their day with the mobile Internet and 45% end their day with it, with the peak time for use while relaxing at home in the evening (64%). The only time Web use falls off dramatically is when people are actively engaged in other activities like sports or at live events.
"This clearly demonstrates how mobile Internet use has caused a significant shift in consumer need to have constant connection with the outside world," stated the report, which based its findings on a survey of 8000 active smartphone users across Italy, Sweden, the U.K., U.S., Australia, China, India and South Korea.
What's more, people are accessing the mobile Web at home while consuming other media. Half of smartphone users said they browse the mobile Web while watching TV, listening to the radio, and while traveling. Thirty-nine percent do so while using the PC-based Internet, and 34% while reading newspapers and magazines. From these findings, Initiative concluded that marketers can use mobile to amplify messaging in other media."

Approximately 4,000 iPhones are sold each day in Korea

"At last, half a million Apple iPhones have sold in Korea by the end of this month. The phones were an instant hit as soon as they belatedly hit the Korean market on Nov. 28, 2009 and sales remain at some 4,000 a day. The phones sold over 500,000 in only seven countries including the US, Germany, France and Japan. Apple is reportedly surprised at how fast the iPhone is selling in Korea.
People believes iPhone sales will slow down with the launch of new smartphones like Samsung’s Android Phone but still expects the total number sold to reach 1 million this year. Because many people are waiting for new iPhone 4G device in June.
Ironically Safari users in Korea were increased about 10 times compared with 6 month before. The most Korean online news service, Media Daum reported web browser share: IE6 57.1%(-7.8%), IE8 21.2%(+12.9%), IE7 16.8%(-3.01%), Safari 2.54%(+2.15%), Mozilla Firefox 1.2%(+0.01%) and Google Chrome 0.96%(+0.34%). The number of Safari users caught up with Firefox’s and it became #2 web browser in Korea."

Asian online marketplace Alibaba has more than 50m registered users

"During the first quarter, we made steady progress in all fronts. We added 2.5 million registered users, more than 458,000 storefronts and more than 43,400 paying members. This represents a key milestone as Alibaba.com surpasses 50 million registered users with 7.3 million storefronts and 658,701 paying members worldwide. We are particularly encouraged by the strong performance across revenue and net profit in the quarter. The quarterly revenue growth continued to accelerate and increased 49.3% year-over-year in the first quarter of 2010, compared with the 35.8% year-on-year growth in the fourth quarter of 2009. Despite generally weaker seasonality in the first quarter of the year, we maintained decent growth in recurring free cash flow and deferred revenue. Deferred revenue grew 43.6% year-on-year to reach RMB3.6 billion. These achievements showcased the strong execution by our team and confirmed Alibaba.com’s value to our small business customers."
