More than 350 million photos a day are shared on Snapchat

"Snapchat CEO Evan Spiegel said the popular mobile-messaging app is now processing more than 350 million “snaps” a day, up from 200 million in June.People take photos outside of Snapchat’s headquarters in Los Angeles. Bloomberg
The app became popular thanks to a self-destruction feature that deletes photo messages, or “snaps,” seconds after they are opened. A big potential rival, Facebook'sFB +0.20% Poke app released earlier this year, quickly fell off the top rankings among free apps in the Apple store. Snapchat, meanwhile, stands at number 12 on Apple’s free app chart."
