Nearly 20% of new Facebook fans come from mobile

"Facebook’s mobile user base is growing, but how quickly? New statistics from social analytics firm PageLever show that 19 percent of new Facebook fans in August came from mobile, compared with only 5 percent in May.
PageLever looked at more than 500 Facebook pages with fan bases of 100,000 or greater. The company found that in May, for every 100 new fans, pages got five of those from mobile. In August, that number rose sharply, to 19 per 100.
Facebook, largely because of the grand increase of people accessing the site from their smartphones, has had a renewed focus on mobile. At the TechCrunch Disrupt conference last month in San Francisco, Co-Founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg said that in the past, the company had a core mobile team. Now, each department within the social network has mobile duties. The site wants to ensure that users have a quality experience whether they check Facebook on an iPhone, a BlackBerry, or an Android device."
